The Newsroom

Today’s Tribune is put together by a compact editorial team covering national politics, policy, culture and the stories driving public conversation. Contributors research and write; editors review and publish. There is no layer between the two — the people who edit the copy are the people who decide what runs.

What We Cover

Politics and policy, courts and legislation, culture and the arguments running through it. We cover the national story and the state-level decisions that shape it, with an eye for the items that get overlooked in a crowded news cycle.

Our Features section carries longer pieces. Tribune Reports carries the day’s coverage. Opinion is opinion, and labelled.

Our Workflow

Stories originate in wire reports, public records, court documents, official statements and regional outlets. A contributor establishes what is documented, drafts the piece and links the sources. An editor checks the draft against those sources, reviews the headline against the body, and publishes.

That headline check matters to us. A headline should promise exactly what the article delivers.

What We Hold Ourselves To

Attribution over assertion. Specifics over adjectives. Naming what we don’t know instead of writing past it. And describing the people we disagree with in terms they would recognise.

We are a small operation and we do not claim to be a national wire service. What we claim is that our sourcing is visible and our corrections are honest. Our Editorial Policy spells that out.
